City Of Tygerberg Choir Article Update 02

Artcle Update 02

The Tygerberg City Choir is a bilingual choir that consists of about 40 loyal members of all ages. We might be the only choir in the Northern subburbs that range in age from 30 to 80 and come from all walks of life.

The choir performs religious and secular music, singing Oratorios, Masses, Musicals, Opera choruses, Folksongs, Popsongs, Jazz and does not shy away from challenges musically or challenges beyond our control.

We sing acapella as well as accompanied works. During the Covid period, we adhered to all the rules, but still came together whenever possible and rehearsed and also performed with masks.

During loadshedding we all come armed with torches and have on occasion performed in the dark.

There will usually be a work performed suitable for Easter and Christmas with lighter music in-between, sung at a Soiree or Cabaret.

As a community choir, we also try and serve the community by singing at retirement homes.

At times we combine with other choirs and will then also perform with a full orchestra. For some performances the choir will make use of soloists and choir members who are able to play an instrument.
