Our Planning Starts Months in Advance

Long before the first rehearsal begins, there’s planning. From choosing the repertoire to securing the venue and confirming guest artists or instrumentalists, concert preparation is a collaborative effort between the choir’s leadership, music director, and support teams. Each concert must reflect our values, showcase our talents, and offer something memorable to our audience.

Rehearsals: Where the Magic Happens

The heart of concert prep is rehearsal. Choir members meet weekly — and often more frequently as the date draws closer — to master the music. Sectionals allow each voice group (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) to perfect their parts before full choir rehearsals bring everything together. Under the guidance of our conductor, we work not only on notes and rhythm but also on emotion, tone, and unity.

Vocal Warm-Ups and Technique

No great choir can perform without careful attention to voice training. Warm-ups, breathing exercises, and vocal technique sessions are essential parts of each rehearsal. Our members are committed to caring for their voices, understanding that stamina, clarity, and projection are all key to a successful performance.

Beyond the Music: Staging and Expression

It’s not just about singing — it’s about communicating. We spend time learning how to convey emotion, engage the audience, and maintain a stage presence that enhances the musical experience. Sometimes, this even includes choreography, movement, or coordinating with guest artists and dancers.

Wardrobe, Promotion and Final Details

In the final weeks, everything comes together: wardrobe is chosen, social media and community outreach increase, and final run-throughs fine-tune every detail. Volunteers and supporters help with logistics, while our promotional team ensures our audience knows when and where to find us.

And then — finally — it’s concert time. As the choir walks on stage, every hour of practice and every behind-the-scenes effort is felt in that moment. The audience may never see the full picture of preparation, but they experience the result: a moving, powerful performance that leaves a lasting impact.
